The GlobalSkin-Europe Patient Leader Advisory Committee held its first meeting in April. Thank you to the volunteers who are dedicating their time and energy as we determine the strategic roadmap for the community.

GlobalSkin and the EADV co-hosted a European multi-stakeholder roundtable which brought together representatives from patient organizations, funding partners, dermatology nurses, EADV, European Dermatology Forum, European Patient Forum, European Society of Dermatological Research, European Reference Network-Skin and Cardiff University.

With a strong patient leader presence during the meeting, roundtable participants explored why medical dermatology is not a priority on the European policy agenda and identified challenges and opportunities in this region.

GlobalSkin has been conducting an environmental scan of the RareDERM Community space. We are pleased to share that the qualitative and quantitative phases are complete. Currently, the results are being analyzed to determine the implications for optimizing support and engagement with that community.

GlobalSkin Supports UN Resolution on Rare Disease

The global community of persons living with a rare disease, their families, and civil society organisations, with the support of UN Member States, are calling for the adoption of a UN Resolution Addressing the Challenges of Persons Living with a Rare Disease and their Families.

The initiative is led by the NGO Committee for Rare Diseases, Rare Diseases International (RDI) and EURORDIS. GlobalSkin is proudly supporting this UN resolution and encourages the RareDERM Community and all Members to take part.

The GlobalSkin Continuous Learning Series, in partnership with EUPATI, will give patient leaders the opportunity to hone their advocacy skills through training about medicines research and development from the perspective of patient involvement and engagement.

Members may recall a Fundraising Series offered last summer, with a fundraising expert Cindy Wagman, from The Good Partnership, who expertly guided attendees through a six-part learning series. We are very pleased to announce that we will offer this Fundraising Series as an On-Demand E-Learning experience for all GlobalSkin Members starting in July.

To kick off this program we will host a webinar with Cindy on July 28, 2021. The on-demand experience will offer all Members something, either the opportunity to refresh their fundraising ideas/skills or create new plans for future fundraising goals!

GlobalSkin and the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) are delighted to announce the next stage in our collaboration and partnership through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was officially signed by both organisations on 31 March 2021.
