Letter from the Board President – June 2020

Dear GlobalSkin Members,

I want to thank the GlobalSkin Member community for the ongoing support and care we have shown one another as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. We have all experienced unprecedented change and new obstacles in both our personal and professional circles, but all of us have done our best to rise to the challenge and continue to provide excellent support and assistance to our members who count on us, now more than ever.

GlobalSkin is responding to the evolving needs of our Member organizations around the world. Based on the feedback members provided in a recent COVID-19 survey, we have been developing new programming, expanding communications through a new Members Bulletin, and offering new exclusive Member e-learning opportunities.

In response to our members’ shared concerns about meeting their fundraising goals in 2020, we are offering a series of FREE Fundraising E-learning opportunities to our members. Over the first two sessions, we have seen more than HALF of GlobalSkin’s 165 Members have register to participate. The sessions are rated highly so please join in on upcoming sessions!

Beyond our commitment to ongoing Member learning, GlobalSkin continues to support our Members in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, we have hosted three COVID-19 Virtual Townhalls (for members only) – with the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS), Cardiff University and the University of Ottawa – featuring a variety of dermatology and epidemiological experts helping to answer tough questions which we are all facing at this time. Additionally, there is now a COVID-19 Resource page available to our Members and the public with up-to-date information for general health, disease-specific information, important COVID-19 registries, and much more. Learn more about our dermatology focused COVID-19 Resource page here.

Mark your calendars! On September 30, we will host GlobalSkin’s Annual General Meeting. At that time, the members will elect two new Directors to our Board. There are also several new opportunities to get involved as Members-at-large on new Board Committees. More information will be sent directly to Members in the coming weeks inviting our patient leaders to get involved in GlobalSkin’s long-term planning and governance. Stay tuned and we look forward to your participation!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and GlobalSkin’s staff, we hope that you are safe and well, and we look forward to continuing to connect with you online.

Warm regards,
Simmie Smith
IADPO Board President
