Nevus Outreach
Nevus Outreach is dedicated to providing answers and support for families and individuals affected by Congenital Melanocytic Nevi (CMN) and related disorders such as Neurocutaneous Melanocytosis (NCM).
With support from the GlobalSkin Member Impact Fund, Nevus Outreach, Inc, worked in collaboration with their sister UK Charity, Caring Matters Now, to host a three-dimensional virtual art exhibit of the "How Do You C Me Now" exhibit from renowned photographer, Brock Elbank.
The exhibit of 30 models with CMN was originally on display at the Oxo Tower in London March 14- 24, 2019, welcoming over 8,000 visitors. The exhibit was hosted to educate the medical profession and public about CMN, and reduce the stigma attached to living with CMN or any visible difference. The "How Do You C Me Now" exhibit further aims to:
- celebrate the lives of those living with CMN.
- improve the self-esteem of those living with CMN.
- tackle and challenge negative perceptions of beauty.
- give a clear message to the world; embrace your visible difference by loving the skin you are in!
Nevus Outreach commissioned Curat10n, a UK Based design firm, specializing in virtual galleries and interactive art exhibits. The exhibit ran exclusively to our members during summer 2021 and ran a public-facing virtual exhibit July 28-31 and ended with a panel interview with some of the participating models at 10 AM CST on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
Nevus Outreach hopes to be able to do in-person experiences with the art into 2022.
