Dear GlobalSkin Members,
Well, 2025 is off to an amazing start and I am excited about all the initiatives that GlobalSkin has planned this year!
Our membership growth continues to exceed all expectations as we now have over 300 members, in 74 countries, representing 59 disease areas. Our vision of creating a world where people with dermatological conditions are healthy and fulfilled, continues to make an impact through our strategic objectives to:
- Elevate - Amplify the voice of the dermatology patient community globally.
- Champion - Ensure a strong and representative global voice for people affected by dermatological.
- Unite - Change the way the world perceives dermatological conditions.
- Build a strong, inclusive, and impactful organization
I am excited to share that the WHO Executive Board met in February and recommended that the Skin Diseases Resolution proceed for adoption at the World Health Assembly in May 2025! This is a very important milestone for the entire GlobalSkin community. There is still a lot of work to be done over the next several months and as we need more Member States to co-sponsor and support the resolution for it to be adopted by the Assembly in May.
I am calling on you to reach out to their Ministers of Health and to raise awareness and call for adoption of the resolution. Tools and template letters have been developed by the GlobalSkin team to support these activities and are available to download at globalskin.org/WHAResolution. Please reach out to the decision-makers and Health Ministers in your countries by sending a letter asking for their support
The GlobalSkin team just returned from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Conference where I lead a small delegation in Orlando, Florida. Our stakeholder networking including meeting with AAD leadership, hosting the Skin Matters reception co-hosted with CSD, promoting the PRIDD measure throughout the event in the exhibition hall, and meeting with our industry partners to solidify their support for 2025 and beyond.
I am really looking forward to the 2025 GlobalSkin Conference as much as I am! This year it will be held April 24-27, 2025, at the Vienna House by Wyndham Diplomat in Prague, Czech Republic. I hope to see you all as we come together to champion the global dermatology patient voice, advocate for the shared interests of those affected by dermatological conditions worldwide and collaborate for transformative change. Join me for an unforgettable weekend aimed at inspiring, connecting, and celebrating our Community of Champions.
I would like to thank all of YOU for your engagement, participation, and support of GlobalSkin and our mission. Together, we are creating a world in which people living with dermatological diseases can easily access the care and treatment they need, when they need it, and can live without stigmatization, persecution, or economic disadvantages due to their conditions.
I look forward to seeing you all at the 2025 GlobalSkin Conference in Prague!
Gratefully,
Marc Yale
GlobalSkin Board President
