PRIDD Measure Launch

On September 25th, in Amsterdam alongside the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Congress, GlobalSkin is proudly launching a major dermatology advancement that is poised to correct the current underestimation of skin diseases burden. We extend our sincere congratulations and thanks to our network of patient organizations for making this possible!

The new Patient-Reported Impact of Dermatological Diseases (PRIDD) is the first fully validated dermatology impact measure applicable to all skin conditions. And it is the first patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) in dermatology that was developed and validated in partnership with patients. Existing dermatology measures underestimate burden and current PROMs are not appropriate for measuring burden across all skin conditions.

PRIDD was developed over the past seven years through the Global Research on the Impact of Dermatological Diseases (GRIDD) project by the GlobalSkin, Cardiff University and University of Hamburg, in partnership with over 5600 patients worldwide to address these gaps. It is because of the efforts and commitment of our patient organizations members around the world that we were able to achieve this highly ambitious and unprecedented milestone.

PRIDD is a multi-dimensional measure that is valid, reliable, and ready for use with adult patients across all dermatological conditions. PRIDD reflects the true burden of skin diseases by measuring physical, psychological, life responsibilities and social impacts on the lives of patients.

PRIDD’s features include:

  • The 16 questions can be completed in under 2 minutes
  • It has been extensively published in highly reputable journals (found here)
  • Available in 15+ languages
  • Available in electronic and paper formats
PRIDD enhances understanding of disease impact, supports doctor-patient communication and shared decision-making, and informs tailored treatments based on patient-reported outcomes. PRIDD puts the lived experience of patients at the centre of health care decision-making and can be used by patients to track their disease over time, in clinical trials, in clinical practice and in other research.
We invite the entire dermatology community to learn more at pridd.org and to download the app on their mobile today! We will be sharing more details in the coming months about our efforts to encourage adoption of the PRIDD measure and how you can help.
