GlobalSkin at the AAD Annual Meeting 2025 in Orlando, Florida

From March 7-11, 2025, GlobalSkin participated in the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Our delegation including Board President Marc Yale, Director of Programs Tammi Shipowick, Director of Operations Allison FitzGerald and Partnerships Manager Jakub Sodocha—engaged in various activities to champion the dermatology patients’ voice.

Kicking off our activities in Orlando, GlobalSkin was invited to present at the annual AID (Advancing Innovation in Dermatology) gathering, the Dermatology Innovation Forum (DIF), held the day before the AAD meeting officially began. Put together by Justin M. Ko, a leading Stanford University dermatologist, the panel featured discussions on AI in dermatology alongside groundbreaking advancements in diagnosis, treatment, and patient care for skin diseases.

Further strengthening our impact, GlobalSkin co-hosted the Skin Matters Reception with the Coalition for Skin Diseases (CSD) on March 7. This event provided a meaningful opportunity for GlobalSkin members to connect, exchange insights, and learn more about the initiatives both organizations are driving to elevate the understanding and prioritization of skin diseases worldwide.

Throughout the event, GlobalSkin was actively present in the exhibition hall to showcase the Patient-Reported Impact of Dermatological Diseases (PRIDD) measure – the first fully validated tool designed to measure the true burden of dermatological conditions from the patient perspective. Our representatives at the PRIDD booth highlighted the measure’s key role in dermatology research and patient care, shared insights on its potential to revolutionize the understanding and management of skin diseases, and addressed questions regarding its broader adoption into clinical practice, research, and industry-led initiatives.

Beyond the exhibition hall, our delegation engaged in strategic discussions with industry partners to strengthen support for key initiatives in the year ahead. This dialogue laid the groundwork for future collaborations, funding opportunities, and innovative advocacy projects to help advance care and outcomes for dermatology patients worldwide.

Additionally, GlobalSkin’s presence at various networking events during the AAD Annual Meeting ensured fruitful conversations with key stakeholders, stronger relationships within the dermatology community, and greater visibility for the patient perspective on a global stage.

Building on the momentum gathered at the AAD Annual Meeting 2025, GlobalSkin looks forward to continuing to work with its members and partners to drive meaningful progress in dermatology patient advocacy.
