Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society's aim is to raise awareness of the dangers of the sun and what symptoms to look for as well as to help build a support system for those with the disease in South Africa.
Impact Fund Project
We organize a camp every year to get kids together so we can provide them with much-needed sunscreen and offer them a Doctor's check-up to test their eyes and have glasses made for them.
The Biggest Success of the Project in Our Patient Community
The biggest success of this project was the ability to buy sunscreen which is very necessary for our patients and especially glasses and sunglasses. We also needed a derma scope to have our patients checked out and to not miss any cancers. It's a very expensive tool and we used part of the funds to pay for it.
This was really important for our organization because we really struggle to get funding here in South Africa so this really helps us to help our patients.
