AADA (Asociación de Afectados por la Dermatitis Atópica)
The AADA (Asociación de Afectados por la Dermatitis Atópica), Spain used the Impact Fund to write and produce a narrated children's story which they've made into a video featured on YouTube.
It is the story of a small fire-breathing dragon named Flare (Picón), that struggles with his uncontrollable flames. As the story unfolds, the dragon manages to turn his challenges into something positive. The video has been produced in both English and Spanish, and other countries (Slovenia and Portugal) have expressed interest in having the cartoon produced in their languages as well.
At least 10 schools have already used the story in class to explain what Atopic Dermatitis is and how kids can help their friends and classmates that suffer from it.
The project has been so successful that We've received many messages saying that their children watch the video every night! Other countries (Slovenia and Portugal) have already asked this organization if they could translate the story to use it also in their countries.
"The feedback we've had from many families has been extremely satisfying, the story has helped the children to understand the importance of using moisturizer and help them explain to their friends what is wrong with their skin, At least 10 schools have already used the story in class to explain to the children what AD is and how they can help the classmates that suffer it." - AADA Patient Leader
The organization has received many patient and caregiver testimonials which attest to the impact of their video project:
