IADPO’s Scientific Session at the EADV Congress

IADPO was proud to co-organize and co-host an official scientific session at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Geneva this September. The session, “Changing the Way the World Perceives Dermatology”, was an innovative, interactive 90-minute dialogue session on the big challenges in dermatology – today and tomorrow.

Our CEO Christine Janus and the EADV’s Dr. Catherine van Montfrans, dermatologist and member of the EADV Patient Working Group, co-facilitated the event. Speakers included the lead researcher of our GRIDD project, Prof. Matthias Augustin, University of Hamburg (GE); Prof. Pierre Wolkenstein, dermatologist and member of the EADV Patient Working Group; Jean-Marie Meurant, IADPO’s Board President and President of l’Association Française du Vitiligo; and Elfie Deprez, Head Nurse, Poli Dermatology.

eadv 2017 collageIADPO was proud to co-organize and co-host an official scientific session and participate in the Patient Village at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Geneva this September.

In round table discussions, attendees explored ways to increase the visibility of and respect for dermatological disease, determined how we (patients, dermatologists, nurses and researchers) can join forces, and formulated what impact these changes would have on future funding for patient support, care and dermatological research. Following this dialogue, each table reported back to the entire room.

The need for more research, including patient impact research, was a consistent theme. This exercise was a very positive and productive multi-stakeholder collaboration – something that needs to happen more often. IADPO was proud to be the first patient organization to co-organize an official scientific session with the EADV.

IADPO was also an exhibitor in the EADV Patient Village where we actively engaged in conversations with other patient leader exhibitors and conference attendees.
